Culturally Extinct

Today’s world is so full of hate, racism, intolerance, all sorts of evils. A few weeks ago 8 people were shot in a church prayer meeting in Charleston by a very disturbed young man. After this, our country has determined that a historical battle flag is a sign of hate and is now banned. This flag is now being removed as state flags and no longer for sale and a popular TV show (that had this flag painted on the hood of a car) is now banned. Are we rewriting history trying to remove a piece of our past? Every person every family every town county state country and every culture in the history of existence has done things that we aren’t proud of, isn’t that how we evolve to be a civil society it doesn’t mean we cover it up and pretend it didn’t happen, we reflect on it and remember where we came from and most importantly where we’re going… Ahhh where we’re going that’s the real question. Christians are being called biggots because Christians believe marriage is a covenant between man, woman and God. For many years Christians have been calm and prayerful about abortion, children being born out of wedlock, divorce, prayer in school or public. Christians have not stood their ground on these things, or held each other accountable. These things just seem to happen and became the norm without much flack. Recently our U.S. Supreme Court voted that gay marriage is now legal. Christians began to take a stand for their beliefs. All while Americans are supposed to be tolerant and accepting to all unless you’re a Christian voicing your opinion. It does not mean  Christians hate gays. I personally believe that gay couples should have legal rights and healthcare etc the same as a married couple but I do believe my marriage is a covenant with God, I don’t personally think gay marriage is. I believe it is a union with the same legal rights. Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner is a whole other subject and remember we are a tolerant society except no one is tolerant of Christians or morals or family values. Sometimes it seem our world thrives so much on shock culture and sensationalism that we are self destructing ourselves to be the next new big story or controversy. I read an article this morning about the history of and The creation of the Baja of California.

The Baja used to be attached to the mainland of Mexico but 50 million years ago it broke away during an earthquake. This article was very interesting talking about early people, the Pericu, hunters and gatherers living in caves, (50,000 years ago or 10,000 it’s an archaeological debate) probably came from South Pacific or even from the Bering Strait. Anyway there was a term used for these people who have disappeared… “culturally extinct as a people”. That term really made me think, those early tribal barbaric people roughing it to the extreme, trying to exist living off the land, praying to their Gods, burying their loved ones, existing.  Then the Spaniards arrived, they began wearing clothes and eventually were probably killed off.

Think about that…. Are Christians soon to be culturally extinct? I’m afraid so because we have been polite and calmly praying about these hot topics instead of standing up for our moral and Christian ground. Now what?

Human or humane?

Influences lives.
A baby brought into this world has no control of their life or their surroundings. They hope to be surrounded by responsible caregivers providing a loving clean healthy environment free from hunger or violence or abuse. Hopefully lots of unconditional love. Seems easy enough. What if I told you this baby was black, and being raised in a ghetto government apartment by a mom who sells drugs and does tricks on the side and the occasional John and sometimes the baby daddy stops by and is abusive to the baby. Teaching molding and shaping this baby with each thing it sees. Not the greatest environment for a baby to be raised.
What if I told you this baby was Hispanic being raised in a large family by both parents and multiple brothers and sisters aunts uncles and grandparents. Lots of love and great food. This baby has seen love and care everyday.
Imagine the differences in these two babies lives. How each environments shaped each life. How its not the fault of the baby, could you blame the baby for the way it was raised? Is it the baby’s fault if its terrified each day like its fighting for its own livelihood not loved probably hungry afraid someone will try to hurt them. Becoming defensive just out of self protection. While the other baby is loved happy go lucky everyone the baby meets baby assumes is a loving person there to love and love baby in return.
Vast differences our cultures can create. I used Hispanic and black families only as examples you could remove the race and interchange any one in either place. We humans are all capable of either. We humans are responsible for molding and shaping lives. I used race as an example because it seems get get tempers flared more. I’m getting to my point soon. But you can replace the race with the word human and maybe it removes preconceived notions. But now replace the word baby with puppy. How does that change things. Believe me I know human babies and puppies are vastly different concepts. A dog is a damned dog my husband would say. But when you look at the responsibility of raising a dog in the same light of raising a child environment factors ignorance factors does this really weigh in to society today? Now go back and think if that puppy was a pit bull. How does that weigh in now? Responsible pet ownership is important. If you raise a puppy to have to defend its livelihood each moment of everyday it will tend to be aggressive. Just like when we thought we were talking about a baby it’s not the baby’s fault for its upbringing. Each baby or puppy is unique they should not be labeled as being dangerous or horrible just because of its race or breed. We shouldn’t judge a person by their race or even their upbringing. So why do we judge a dog by their breed. It’s a form of racism.

Brave Little Soul

I found this in my saved documents. I hadn’t read it in a while. I like it. Why do we need pain or suffering for us to show love and compassion to each other abundantly? This past week our country faced another terror attack at the Boston Marathon. And then 2 days later an explosion at West, Texas fertilizer plant. After each of these there was an outpouring of love and concern for each other. I wish we humans weren’t like that. Why can’t we be more like dogs and love with complete abandon ALL.THE.TIME! But then I don’t want to sniff others butts and crotches so I guess we’ll just stay the same. But maybe try to be more compassionate to everyone.

The Brave Little Soul

Not too long ago in Heaven there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however the little soul was sad, for on this day he saw suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, “Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?”

God paused for a moment and replied, “Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people’s hearts.” The little soul was confused. “What do you mean,” he asked. God replied, “Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone.”

The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, “The suffering soul unlocks the love in people’s hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this – it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer – to unlock this love – to create this miracle – for the good of all humanity.”

Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied, “I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people’s hearts! I want to create that miracle!”

God smiled and said, “You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you.”

God and the brave little soul shared a smile, and then embraced. In parting, God said, “Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed.”

Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God’s strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people’s hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys – some regained lost faith – many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased. – John Alessi

Joyous New Year

So glad to have had our girls home for Christmas. It was the best break ever! Elizabeth came early and helped me wrap presents and get ready. We had a great time lounging after Christmas and watching Friends. We went to Nana’s house New Years day and ate lunch and took down her tree. I caught the girls giggling in the kitchen playing with the photo booth app on Nana’s new iPad. I videoed this priceless silliness.

King Family reunion

Had fun at the King family reunion, Friday night at Aunt Neta’s house is always the best. Kendra Spinelli brought her cutsie daughter Riley. She bossed everyone around lining up the chairs and putting everyone in their place.

It was funny her mama was inside and didn’t know what was going on. And she danced and thoroughly entertained us. Then Elizabeth and Hallie took some pics by the cotton and Riley came and tried to boss us out there. Ha ha

We have a new baby in the family this year, Tylee Jordan. She’s a cutie.

Saturday we went to the horrible ugly MAC for lunch, the kids had fun playing on the stage as usual. Tian came and brought her adorable kids.

I found this hanging on a wall at Aunt Neta’s house… among lots of stuff…

This is in Aunt Neta’s bathroom, I love it!

After the MAC some were going to the Boston terrier museum, and Justin and Tata came over. Hallie went back to LBK to move some stuff from her apt to her house. I really missed my Husband today, he’s in Pontiac, Illinois spraying corn.

I gots a yob!

I started a new job today. Secretary at my church! I might get fired for slamming a phone down cuss words flying. Ha ha! We will see, my biggest fear is that I will be bored to tears, twiddling my thumbs waiting on time to go home. oh well I guess I’ll be paid to Facebook, blog and pinterest!! Ha ha. Oh well, we’ll see how this goes.

Yesterday, Nana and I went to Lubbock to eat lunch at Kelly’s new house. He’s still moving stuff not quite ready to “stays thur” yet. We ate on paper plates at the fancy dining table, and talked about serving gravy and ranch dressing in the fancy silver appointments. Ha ha!

Yay! Mobile WordPress app!

I’m so excited to see this app. Thanks @baronbatch for tweeting about it!
After having Blake here for the past ten days. Jeff and I took him to meet Cassy in Abilene today. We’ve had a busy 10 days. We played on Fathers day with the skeet thrower the girls gave Jeff. We swam and ate hotdogs in the backyard and played tic at Grandmothers.

We also made sure Blake got to see Becky and John too.
A couple of days I took Blake to Lockney swimming lessons to watch Hagen and Rilynn and for Blake to swim and get to see Ms Lesca.

We all had so much fun together. Love Blake like he’s my own, wish he didn’t live so far away. But we’re so glad he and Cassy are doing well. I think Emmitt enjoyed having him here as much as anyone.

We saw this cute kitty in a store sleeping in a bowl on display.
